The 4 Best Fall Foliage Spots in Central Park

There is nothing prettier than Central Park in the fall and if you’re visiting New York City this fall there are a 5 spots you must visit to get the perfect shot.

THE MALL

If you’re looking for guaranteed gorgeous foliage The Mall should be the first place you look. The walkway leading up to Bethesda Terrace is lined with trees that turn the prettiest yellow color in the fall. The leaves turn earlier here and stay up for a long time, so you’ll have a great change at seeing peak foliage.

BOW BRIDGE

The Bow Bridge is a beautiful anytime of year, but in the fall is when it really shines. If you’re looking for the perfect shot go onto to the bridge and take a picture with the pond and skyline behind you. Beware, this photo spot will pretty much always be busy in the fall, but if you can show up early like Allie did you may just get a shot without people!

WOLLMAN RINK

While Wollman rink is usually thought of as a wintertime spot the view of the foliage and city skyline over the rink is too pretty for words. There are two great spots to get the perfect shot. The easiest is just along the viewing deck looking south east. Or with a bit of climbing on the rocks you can get an even better view looking south west over the rink like I did in this post. Just head up to the viewing point over the rink and face south to get the perfect shot.

BELVEDERE CASTLE

Belvedere Castle is one of the best places to get a view across Central Park. In the fall though this view is even more stunning. Look out across Turtle Pond towards the Met and UES for the best picture.

While we usually think of peak fall being around October, it’s actually a bit later in the city. If you’re traveling to NYC to see the foliage I recommend planning your trip between the last weekend of October and the first two weekends of November.
