5 Focuses for 2018

Happy New Year everyone! I’m currently en route back to NYC to get back to ‘real’ life which I’m sure will be a rude awakening after over a week back home in Massachusetts. Of course like everyone else I have all the plans to head the gym and cut out gluten, dairy etc our of my diet – but let’s be real those are the new years resolutions that we all set out of habit since they never actually happen. Last year I gave up making resolutions to instead set a focus of creating a life I was proud of and excited about, something I want to continue this year, so instead of setting goals I have five focuses for the year that I want to dedicate more time to.

Get Back to Being a Morning Person

I’ve mentioned this before, I used to be such a morning person but in the last couple years I’ve gotten into bad sleeping habits (hitting snooze, staying up too late, etc). While in high school I would wake up at 5:30 with no problem these days even 7:30 wake up times feel rough. In 2018 I want to get back to my morning person abilities so that I have time to build in a couple morning work outs or time to just chill with a cup of coffee and my favorite blogs.

Be Good to my Hair

Between blow drying, curling, and straightening I’m not the nicest to my hair and you can see the effects. I get crazy split ends and the healthy shine just isn’t there anymore. 2018 will be the year I actually learn how to care for my hair and it’s started with a bit of a chop!

Bucket List Travel

I have about a million places on my bucket list and while 2017 saw Cuba checked off I want to see more places crossed off the list in 2018. With limited vaca days (and limited money duh) I have to be a bit strategic, but I’m saving up in hopes I’ll be crossing off two spots very high on the list.

Grow Lifestyle Content on When & Wear

I’ve set a new goal for myself to write at least two ‘long form’ blog post per month including bringing back NYC guides and Post Grad advice pieces! These have been some of your favorite posts in the past and even though they take significantly longer to write they’re also the pieces I’m most proud of as well! I do want to make sure these pieces are ones you want to read – so please let me know what you’d like to write about in the comments!

Hone My Photography Skills

If you go way back to the days of 2012 when I started my blog, half the reason I started it was because of my love for photography. These days, since I’m mainly in front of the camera I haven’t been as focused on working on my own photography skills but I really want to change that this year by spending time bettering my lightroom editing skills and shooting in manual on my camera.
